Posted by Sandra on 18.10.2018

Mallorca in the minds of many, is a destination to enjoy in the sizzling heat of summer. Those who remain on the island all year round know that Mallorca is just as fabulous in autumn and winter as it is in summer. Many are aware of the fantastic activities that we can take part in during the summer months. But there are lots of things to do now during the colder season as well. Read on our guide to Mallorca’s top 7 things to do in autumn and winter.

Hike the mountains
After the beaches, it’s Mallorca’s mountains that are the island’s most popular draw for visitors. While still a little too hot to hike for some in early autumn, towards October-November time can offer perfect walking conditions to enjoy wonderful forest walks and explore the island’s truly stunning scenery.

Follow the wine trail
With more than 70 wineries across Mallorca – many of which open their doors to guests – there’s certainly no shortage of vineyards to visit. And autumn is certainly one of the best times of year to do a tour of the bodegas, while the vines are still a lush and vibrant green – visit in Oktober and there’s a good chance you can witness the annual grape picking too.

Visit Palma
While the island’s capital can certainly be visited any time of the year, autumn is a particularly good time, when the crowds thin and the fresher air allows for long leisurely strolls around its charming cobbled lanes. Shorter queues for its myriad of attractions also means you can also pack more sightseeing into your visit.

Improve your golf swing
In terms of number of golf courses relative to the size, Mallorca is number one in Europe. The island boasts a total of 23 top-quality golf courses, as well as numerous golf hotels to make the most of your golfing time here. Novices can learn from professional golf instructors, while seasoned players will be challenged by championship-level courses.

Catch some culture
After the summer lull, autumn ushers in the start of the cultural season on the island. Kicking off with the ever-popular Nit d’Art during the third week of September, the island continues to enjoy a rich programme of performances, festivals and concerts from the finest local and international artists from the world of dance, music, and art.

Spas
When the air is that little bit cooler outside and the sea gets colder, taking a dip in the crystal-clear waters surrounding Mallorcamight be a bit too much for some. A great alternative is a trip to the spa, one of the best autumn and winter activities in Mallorca. There are many great spas located in Palma and across the island which will transport you to warmer climates. Even if it is only for an hour or two. The perfect activity for a cold Sunday afternoon.
Wellness.

Horse Riding
Whether it be riding across the glistening white sands or through the rolling Mallorcan backcountry, horse riding on the island is spectacular. There are many horse riding schools throughout Mallorca that offer lessons or the opportunity to enjoy a couple of hours on horse back enjoying a new environment.
