Hike to Torre Andritxol in Cala Fornells

Posted by Sandra on 4.11.2020

A hike to the old watchtower Torre Andritxol, which dates from the 16th century and was built to protect against pirate raids, is one of the highlights in the Paguera area. The tour starts at the car park in Cala Fornells behind the Hotel Petit Cala Fornells where you can leave your car directly. The path is well signposted and besides the signs to Torre Andritxol, stones also show the way up. The first 300 m are easy to walk on a wide gravel path before it gets a little steeper. The hike is also suitable for families with children. The first wonderful view is through a gap in the fence on a path that leads to Camp de Mar. Already here the view over the bay is magnificent. A further ascent follows up to the Torre, which is reached at an altitude of almost 180 metres. The last section before reaching the top is relatively steep but absolutely feasible with good footwear. Once you reach the watchtower, you will have a stunning view of the bay of Camp de Mar. If you want to walk even further, you should continue the hike to Cap Andritxol. There you will be rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view not only of Camp de Mar but also of Paguera and the bay of Palma. With good visibility you can even see as far as Ibiza. For the way there and back you should plan about 2 hours to have enough time to enjoy the view and a picnic. The hike to Torre Andritxol is one of the most popular hikes in the area around Paguera.
