Mallorca remains an attractive place for a secondary residence

Posted by Sandra on 11.09.2015

Because of the mild climate and the benefits of a Mediterranean lifestyle, Mallorca attracts a lot of people from the German-speaking countries, United Kingdom and Scandinavia to buy themselves a secondary residence on the island. Especially sea view properties are preferred as holiday homes or retirement residence. While the potential buyer from the German-speaking countries and United Kingdom primarily focus their real estate search on the southwest of the island, many Scandinavians are still very interested in Palma. Here, it is especially the Santa Catalina district in the old town of Palma, which is preferred by Swedes.

Great demand for apartments in Palma and Portixol

Properties in Palma will generally becoming more popular. According to the “Sunday Times”, Palma is now known as one of the best places to live in the world. The price per square meter is here now between 3000 and 9000 euro and thus increased compared to 2014 to up to 15 percent, but the demand for apartments in Palma is still very high. Building companies take their chances and build modern and superbly equipped apartment complexes along the beach promenade of Palma, in Portixol. But also in the historical district of Palma’s old town, there are many town houses and apartments which are lovingly renovated at the moment. Larger family accommodation is more available in one of the outer areas of Palma such as the modern upscale golf resort of Son Vida, the mountain-top village of Genova or the leafy Bellver and Son Armadans areas in west of Palma. In conclusion, each area of Palmas has its unique charm, advantages and shortcomings. But there is one thing they all have in common - the romantic Mediteranean flair and the quality of life.
