Christmas markets on Majorca

The Balearic island Majorca, too, has its Christmas markets. Since Sunday, 27th November Christmas time has begun and within a few days the city of Palma will decorate itself with a unique and wonderful sea of lights. The starting shot is December 3rd at 6:30 pm, with an awesome spectacle at Palma’s Boulevard: the Paseo Borne. At some places the Christmas markets only take place for one day; others remain until January 6th, the day of the Holy Three Kings. Also there will be no lack of mulled wine, and food trucks will offer the visitors a large range of different dishes.

Palma: The biggest Christmas market of the island takes place in the center of Palma. In total there are 220 stands at five sites: Plaza Mayor, Las Ramblas, Vía Roma, Plaza España and Plaza Cort. The market has started on Wednesday, 23rd November and will last until Sunday, 8th January. The opening hours are every day from 10 am till 9 pm.

Santa Ponsa: The Christmas market of Santa Ponsa attracts with a flea market for children (on December 11th), music, merry-go-rounds, arts and craft, from Saturday, 26th November until Sunday, 18th December. The market takes place at the industrial area of Son Bugadellas. The German stamped Christmas market opens from Monday to Friday from 5 till 10 pm, and at the weekend and on public holidays from 10 am till 10 pm.

Villa Wesco: During the December weekends the Villa Wesco in Santa Maria will shine in all its Christmas glory for the first time. The Christmas market starts on Friday, 2nd December and will last until Sunday, 18th December. The opening hours are every Friday and Saturday from 3 till 8 pm, and on Sunday from 1 till 6 pm. On Friday, 17th December Late-Night-Shopping until 10 pm is on the agenda. There will be food, drinks and music.

Puerto Portals: In the yacht harbor Puerto Portals the Christmas market will last three weeks. The 37 stands attract their visitors from December 16th till the day of the Holy Three Kings in January. Food will be served at some stands and at food trucks. The market includes a varied entertaining programme. The market will open every day from 12 am till 9 pm, and at the weekend until 10 pm.

Alaró: Here there are even two Christmas markets: on the one hand the winery Castell Miquel organizes its colorful market at the weekend of December 3rd and 4th. On the other hand another Christmas market will take place at the weekend of December 17th and 18th on the village square. The market opening hours are: Saturday from 10 am till 9 pm, and Sunday from 10 am till 5 pm.

Palma – Pueblo Español: In the meantime this has become a classic of Christmas markets on Majorca. It will take place from 6th till 11th December and attracts with its artificial snow (especially popular for children), many festive and gastronomic stands, as well as musical entertainment. The opening hours are every day from 12 am till 11 pm, and on Sunday until 8 pm. The entrance fee is EUR 5.

Palma – Club de Mar: On December 8th the Christmas Festival in the Club de Mar will be opened. It will last until December 11th and welcomes its visitors from 11 am till 7 pm and focuses especially on children.

Port Adriano: Here the Advent time starts with gastronomy. From Friday 16th until Sunday 18th December the food trucks will stay the whole day in Christmas atmosphere.
Don’t hesitate and pay a visit in December to the wonderful Mediterranean city of Palma – you won’t regret it.
