Mallorca in December – especially beautiful in Palma

Posted by Sandra on 2.12.2020

Although there were some loud voices saying that the wonderful Christmas lights should not be installed due to the pandemic, it still fills the city centre with more people than in recent weeks and brings a smile to the faces of many in this difficult time. Above all, shops and retail outlets are also benefiting. You can smell the roasted chestnuts and churros in the air in mild sunshine most of the time. Since the end of November, the Christmas lights in Palma have been shining, once again masterfully implemented, creating a festive and contemplative atmosphere. This year, people are spending more time with their families and traditions are reviving, but everyone should remember to buy their gifts locally and not order them to support local business. As of the beginning of December, the Island Council’s Christmas programme currently comprises 80 different events but it is said that some more will be added. Due to the Corona crisis everything is a bit different than usual but according to our information there will be the popular Christmas market in Puerto Portals again - but of course everything will be a bit different with less stands. Balearic Christmas - different from Northern Europe but wonderful!

We wish you a wonderful pre-Christmas season!
