Port Sóller – Majorca’s West coast is a trip worth

Posted by Sandra on 19.04.2016

Port Sóller combines the typical flair of Majorcan villages and the character of holiday locations. In the streets away from the seafront promenade the characteristic building style of Majorcan mountain villages has been preserved. There are old natural stone houses and narrow lanes as well as hotels and modern restaurants and bars. On the other hand you won’t find 20-storey hotels, fast food chains at every corner or big yachts. And this is exactly why we consider Port Sóller one of the most beautiful holiday locations of the island. A special highlight is the old tramway (built in 1922), which brings at quite a slow pace the passengers from the village Sóller to the fishing harbor. Since 2007 the car traffic in direction to the port is bypassed via a 1.3 km long tunnel and the tram is the only vehicle on the coast road. This has made the place much quieter. The charming Port Sóller has two small beaches. The main beach is situated directly along the seafront promenade in the harbor area. In 2012 it has been enlarged and offers now considerably more space for sunbathers. The nicer one is the beach Platja des Repic on the southern edge of the bay. A small seafront promenade invites you to stay. There you’ll also find one of the most beautiful waterfront restaurants of Majorca –„Agapanto“. The owner Anna Maria Sturm has established here a romantic oasis with creative cuisine and direct access to the beach. The terrace at the restaurant Agapanto in Port Sóller is embellished with yellow and red blossoms as well as playful details. The scents of herbs merge with the salty sea breeze. When sitting on the terrace you’ll enjoy a gorgeous view onto the turquoise glistening water of the natural port and the impressing mountain landscape in front of the bay. Another high-class restaurant is „Es Passeig” which is also situated directly at the seafront promenade of the beach Es Repic in the picturesque Port Sóller on the North-West coast of Majorca. The restaurant „Es Passeig” which is managed by Marcel and Yvonne Battenberg with a lot of engagement and passion offers international and Mediterranean cuisine at a high level, and an excellent service.

In the middle of the pedestrian zone, the restaurant offers a wonderful ambience, as well in the outdoor area, approx. 10 meters away from the sea, as in the tastefully and comfortably furnished interior. And should you look for luxury you’ll find it also in Port Sóller. High on top of the cliffs above the fishing harbor there is the most stylish luxury hotel of Majorca: Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa. The family-friendly resort at the untouched North-West coast redefines luxury holiday on the Spanish island. Jumeirah Port Soller Hotel & Spa is a quietly situated luxury hotel that leaves no desires unfulfilled. Surrounded by the mountain chain of Tramuntana this is a hideaway which seems to float between heaven and earth. The 5-stars hotel on Majorca has 121 spacious rooms and suites. The facilities are distributed in eleven buildings which are connected by wonderfully fragrant gardens. On your private balcony or terrace you’ll enjoy a picturesque view onto the sea and the mountains. Port Sóller attracts many elderly people and families who wish to have a relaxed holiday in a fantastic environment, without renunciation of any facility. The harbor is also an ideal point of departure for mountain hikes. Please click here to discover two extraordinary real estates of our portfolio in Sóller!
