Sumailla means beautiful light in Quechua. The restaurant is located in one of the most privileged areas of Mallorca and the western Mediterranean: Puerto de Andratx.
With a terrace overlooking the sea, the cuisine offers a fusion of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine, accompanied by an impressive selection of wines, both from Mallorca, the rest of Spain and internationally. This selection is complemented by the best international champagnes and a varied cocktail menu.
The minimalist interior of the restaurant is very different from the other restaurants in the port and is run by chef Mauricio Farinola from Buenos Aires - one of the best sushi chefs on Mallorca who has worked at Tahini in Portals and Lucy Wang. In 2016, he began to develop the idea of his most personal project in Sumailla, reflecting on his experiences. The philosophy is to maintain this attention to detail, offering originality, respecting the highest quality and creating special flavours and sensations. His team understands the importance of the values and qualities of his cuisine, which fuses Japanese and Peruvian cuisine with a renewed and original touch. Sumailla offers a regular menu but also an affordable lunch menu and is open until late.
At Sumailla you are spoilt for choice and it is not easy to decide when ordering. There is, for example, excellent salmon tartare with rocket, spinach and truffle sauce or a Nikkei steak tartare with thin, very tasty slices of toast. The Californian Rolls are served with spicy tuna and a generous portion of Sashimi Moriawase on ice - a very unusual presentation. Sushi is now available on every corner of Mallorca but at Sumailla it is exceptionally good and prepared to a high standard. Desserts are also to die for, such as the green tea pannacotta with lime and lemon mousse.
