Description of the surroundings -

Cala d'Or, the "golden bay", is a municipality of around 4,000 inhabitants in the Migjorn region, just under 60 kilometres south of Palma. The nearest larger town, Santanyí, is around 15 kilometres away. From the airport of the island capital it takes about one hour by car to Cala d'Or. The rugged cliff coast around Cala d'Or is interrupted by numerous small fine sandy bays - there is something for every taste. Strolling through Cala d'Or, one notices a clear difference to the usual holiday resorts of Mallorca: most of the buildings have only two floors, everywhere the whitewashed facade captivates and pine trees line the streets. The cubic architecture or the whole style of Cala d'Ors reminds on Ibiza. There is always lively entertainment in the summer months; in the low season Cala d'Or is much quieter. Beside a big pedestrian precinct with numerous shops and restaurants that practically runs through the place, there is also a so-called "old part of the village". This is close to the pedestrian zone - but still wonderfully quiet and is dominated by houses in the Ibizan style. The exclusive marina with its almost 600 berths is one of the larger and more luxurious marinas and offers a wide range of bars and restaurants. Here you should spend your time especially in the evening and enjoy the beautiful sunset.
