Almond Blossom fair in Son Servera in february

Posted by Sandra on 1.02.2016

Son Servera is one of the 53 independent communities of the Spanish Balearic island of Mallorca. The small town of the same name is the administrative seat of the municipality in the region Llevant. Mallorcan almonds are said to be one of the best in the world, and the almond blossom is a major attraction for winter visitors to the island of Mallorca. Approx. five million almond trees grow across Mallorca and, from mid/ late January onwards, their delicately scented pink and white blossom adds a special beauty to the landscape of the island. In the town of Son Servera, in the east, you can visit an almond-themed fair coinciding with blossom time on the island. The numerous good flight connections from all over Europe will make it possible to visit the balearic island only just for a weekend to enjoy this white splendor. The 2016 Fira de la flor d’ametler is on Sunday, February 7th, in the grounds of Ses Cases de Ca s’Hereu, a finca in the town of Son Servera dating from the 18th century. The fair offers a large number of stalls selling a variety of products made from almonds, almond wood, and the blossom itself. You’ll see displays of equipment used to harvest and prepare almonds, and enjoy traditional folk music played by strolling musicians.
Entry to the fair is free. Open from 9:30 – 14:00hrs.
